Improvement of gastrointestinal diseases including treatment of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers, alleviation of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease
This medication is used to treat gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers, and to alleviate the symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is also effective for long-term maintenance therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease and helps in the treatment of gastrointestinal ulcer patients infected with Helicobacter pylori in combination with antibiotics. It is utilized for treating Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, contributing to the improvement of symptoms by regulating gastric acid secretion. Overall, it is widely used for the treatment and symptom relief of diseases related to the stomach and esophagus.
For adults, rabeprazole sodium is administered orally at a dose of 10 mg once daily. Depending on symptoms, a dose of 20 mg may be given orally once daily. For gastric ulcers, treatment should be continued for up to 8 weeks, and for duodenal ulcers, up to 6 weeks. For erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease, 10 mg or 20 mg may be administered once daily for 4 to 8 weeks. If symptoms persist after 8 weeks of PPI treatment, an additional 8 weeks of 10 mg may be given.
