How to take

Adult dose

As sodium alendronate, take 70 mg once a week in the morning with a sufficient amount of water at least 30 minutes before food, beverages, or other medications. This medication should be taken immediately upon waking to ensure that the drug reaches the stomach quickly, thereby reducing the possibility of esophageal irritation and should be swallowed with a sufficient amount of water (170 to 230 mL). After taking, remain upright for at least 30 minutes and until the first food intake.

Precautions

This medication may irritate the esophageal and gastric mucosa, so caution is needed for patients with upper gastrointestinal diseases such as esophagitis or ulcers. It is particularly advisable for patients with esophageal disorders or dysphagia to avoid taking this medication. Be sure to take this medication with a sufficient amount of water and do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it. If symptoms such as dysphagia, pain behind the sternum, or heartburn occur during this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Patients with hypocalcemia or severely impaired kidney function, pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication. Additionally, patients allergic to this medication or its components should also avoid taking it. Rarely, prolonged use may cause pain in bones, muscles, or joints, so consult with a doctor if any unusual symptoms persist. This medication may interfere with the absorption of calcium supplements and antacids, so spacing out dosages is important. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication, and safety for children or adolescents under 18 years old has not been established.
