Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Adults: Administer 25mg of sodium hyaluronate once a week for 5 consecutive weeks into the knee joint or shoulder joint (shoulder joint cavity, subacromial bursa, or biceps tendon sheath), but adjust the number of administrations according to symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or its components. Since this is an injection administered directly into the joint, it is safer not to administer it if there is a skin disease or infection at the injection site. Patients with liver function problems or a history of liver disease should be cautious as this drug can elevate liver enzyme levels. It is advisable for individuals allergic to avian protein to avoid this medication. Shock reactions may occur during administration, so patients should be closely monitored, and if any abnormal symptoms arise, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment provided. Allergic symptoms such as swelling of the face or around the eyes, rashes, hives, and itching may occur, so administration should be halted if these symptoms appear. Temporary pain, swelling, redness, warmth, pressure, or bruising may occur at the injection site, and patients should be prepared for these symptoms. Systemic side effects such as nausea, vomiting, fever, and headaches may also occur. Injecting this drug into severely inflamed joints may exacerbate inflammation, so it is advisable to use it once inflammation has subsided. Stabilizing the joint area after administration and avoiding excessive movement can help relieve pain. If the medication leaks outside the joint, it may intensify pain, so it must be injected accurately within the joint. Patients with inflammatory arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis or gouty arthritis may experience temporarily worsening inflammation, so caution is necessary. It is advisable to avoid vigorous exercise such as jogging or tennis or prolonged weight-bearing activities within 48 hours post-injection. The concurrent use of this medication with other intra-articular injectables has not been established for safety and efficacy, so it should not be used together. Pregnant women or women with the possibility of pregnancy should use this drug cautiously only when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. This medication can be passed through breast milk, so it is advisable to avoid breastfeeding during treatment. For children, safety has not been sufficiently verified, so it should be used carefully only when absolutely necessary. Elderly individuals may have weakened physical functions, so more caution is needed during administration. Maintain a sterile environment during injection, and only administer a maximum of 5 times if symptoms do not improve, avoiding further use. If there is an excessive amount of joint fluid, it is advisable to remove the joint fluid before administration. This drug should not be used for intravenous administration or ophthalmic use, and the needle size and injection method should be selected appropriately. Shake the ampoule to ensure the injection solution collects well, slowly draw it into the syringe, and clean the cut surface to prevent foreign substance contamination. Avoid mixing with certain antiseptics, as precipitates may form, and since this is a single-use medication, it should be used quickly after opening, and any remaining medication should be discarded.
