Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (e.g. erosive esophagitis), treatment and prevention of recurrence of Helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcer, relief of gastrointestinal symptoms related to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug use, treatment and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers, treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, maintenance effect to prevent rebleeding of gastric ulcer.
This medicine is used for the treatment and symptom relief of gastroesophageal reflux disease and related esophagitis. It is also effective in the treatment of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection and in preventing recurrence. It is helpful in the treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers related to gastrointestinal symptoms that may occur when taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is used in the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and is also utilized in the prevention and maintenance therapy of rebleeding of gastric or duodenal ulcers. In summary, this medicine is used for the treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal diseases of the stomach and esophagus.
This medication should be swallowed with liquids such as water and must not be chewed or crushed. 1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: Administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If esophagitis is unresolved or symptoms continue, take for an additional 4 weeks. - Long-term maintenance therapy to prevent relapse in patients with esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. If symptoms are not controlled after 4 weeks, further medical attention is needed. - Once symptoms improve, continue to manage recurring symptoms with 20 mg once daily. - In adults, 20 mg may be administered as needed once daily. Continuous dosing is not recommended for patients at high risk of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers due to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug use.
Adolescents over 12 years old 1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: Administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms persist or are unresolved, take for an additional 4 weeks.
This drug should not be administered to certain patients. It should not be used in patients with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to this drug, its components, or similar medications. Long-term use of this medication may mask symptoms of malignant tumors, so if there are unusual symptoms like weight loss or vomiting, it is essential to discuss them with a physician. Regular health check-ups are important for long-term users. Also, this drug can reduce stomach acid, potentially increasing bacterial count in the gastrointestinal tract, raising the risk of infections, thus inform healthcare providers if diarrhea persists. Patients with osteoporosis or those at risk of fractures should be cautious, as long-term use may increase the risk of fractures. This drug may interact with other medications, so inform healthcare providers about all medications being taken, especially when combined with anticoagulants, antibiotics, and antivirals. Safety data on this drug during pregnancy is limited, so pregnant women should only use it after consulting a physician. Breastfeeding women should avoid this drug due to the possibility of it being transmitted through breast milk. There is no specific antidote for overdose, so appropriate treatment should be sought according to symptoms, and it should be stored out of the reach of children. Additionally, this drug should be stored in its original container to maintain its quality and not transferred to another container.
Urticaria, angioedema, anaphylactic reaction, shock, hypomagnesemia, mental confusion, pancreatitis, jaundice, liver failure, encephalopathy, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), muscle weakness, interstitial nephritis, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, severe skin adverse reactions.
