Adult dosage
This medication should be swallowed with liquids like water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - Maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence: 20 mg once daily. - Symptom treatment regimen: 20 mg once daily. - Additional doses of 20 mg once daily may be administered as needed but are not recommended for at-risk groups. 2. Eradication of Helicobacter pylori with antibiotic combination therapy: 20 mg of this drug, combined with 1 g of amoxicillin and 500 mg of clarithromycin, administered twice daily for 7 days. 3. Short-term treatment of upper gastrointestinal symptoms (pain, discomfort, burning) related to the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): 20 mg once daily. If symptoms are not controlled after 4 weeks, additional medical care is required. Clinical trials longer than 4 weeks have not been conducted. 4. Patients requiring continuous NSAID use: - Treatment of NSAID-related gastric ulcers: 20 mg once daily. Treatment duration is 4 to 8 weeks. - Prevention of NSAID-related gastric and duodenal ulcers: 20 mg once daily. 5. Treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: The recommended initial dose is 40 mg twice daily. Subsequent doses should be adjusted according to the patient, with treatment continuing as long as clinical symptoms are present. According to clinical data, most patients can be controlled at doses of 80 to 160 mg daily. Doses exceeding 80 mg daily should be divided into two doses per day. 6. Maintenance therapy after intravenous prevention of rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks after intravenous induction for prevention of rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers.
Children's dosage
Adolescents aged 12 and older: - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - Symptom treatment regimen: 20 mg once daily. - After symptom relief, 20 mg once daily.

This medication is used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive esophagitis and for long-term maintenance therapy, also helping to relieve symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is effective in the treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers in conjunction with antibiotic therapy for eradication of Helicobacter pylori. It is also used for the treatment of upper gastrointestinal symptoms associated with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and the treatment and prevention of related gastric and duodenal ulcers. It is applicable for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding after intravenous administration. Overall, this medication is effective in the treatment and symptom relief of various gastrointestinal diseases, contributing to the improvement of patients' health.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have allergies or have experienced hypersensitivity to specific ingredients or benzimidazole derivatives. Additionally, caution is needed with co-administration in patients allergic to penicillin antibiotics or macrolide antibiotics. It should also be avoided in patients on certain cardiac-related medications, antiviral agents, lactating women, and those with a history of myocardial infarction. This medication contains a dye called yellow No. 4, which should be used with caution in patients who are hypersensitive to it. Various adverse reactions may occur during use, so if symptoms such as headache, dizziness, dyspepsia, rash, or muscle pain appear, immediate consultation with medical personnel is necessary. Regular checks of blood tests or magnesium levels are important during long-term use. This medication suppresses gastric acid secretion and can increase the risk of bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal tract, so medical personnel should be informed if diarrhea persists. Moreover, prolonged high-dose use may increase the risk of fractures, thus caution is needed in osteoporosis patients. It may interact with other medications, so if other medications are being taken, it is essential to inform and consult with a doctor or pharmacist. During pregnancy, safety has not been sufficiently confirmed, so caution is advised, and it is recommended not to use during breastfeeding. Urticaria, angioedema, anaphylaxis, shock, hypomagnesemia, hypocalcemia, hypokalemia, confusion, fever, bronchospasm, pancreatitis, jaundice, hepatitis, liver failure, Stevens-Johnson syndrome (mucocutaneous reaction), toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome), acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), muscle weakness, interstitial nephritis, Clostridium difficile.

Mild side effects

Headache, dizziness, sensory disturbances, drowsiness, taste disturbances, blurred vision, bronchospasm, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, stomatitis, gastrointestinal candidiasis, pancreatitis, increased liver enzymes, hepatitis, dermatitis, itching, rash, hair loss, photosensitivity, erythema multiforme, muscle pain, muscle weakness, gynecomastia, asthenia, increased sweating, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, abdominal distension, allergic reactions, back pain, chest pain.
