This medication is used to enhance blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes when combined with diet and exercise. It can also be used as monotherapy, and if there is insufficient blood sugar improvement after using other oral hypoglycemic agents, it can be administered in combination with sulfonylureas, metformin, or insulin. Additionally, it is important for patients with type 2 diabetes to engage in nutritional counseling, weight loss, and exercise programs, as these lifestyle modifications significantly help maintain the effectiveness of medication therapy as well as initial treatment. Precautions

This medication helps control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. When taking this medicine, attention should be paid to heart function. It should not be administered to patients with heart disease known as congestive heart failure or a history of this condition. This medication may cause fluid retention, which can worsen heart failure. Signs of heart failure include sudden weight gain, shortness of breath, and swelling. If any of these symptoms occur, consult a physician immediately. Additionally, this medication should not be used in patients with bladder cancer or a history of bladder cancer. If symptoms such as urination difficulties or hematuria occur, notify a healthcare provider immediately. Patients with poor liver function or severely impaired kidney function should not use this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication, and premenopausal women should use appropriate contraception as this medication may stimulate ovulation. When this medication is used in combination with other hypoglycemic agents or insulin, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so dosage adjustments may be needed under a physician's guidance. Regularly monitor blood sugar and liver function tests during treatment, and carefully observe for signs of weight gain or swelling. This medication should be taken once daily, regardless of meals, and if a dose is missed, do not take double the dose the next day. An overdose may not show specific symptoms, but it is important to consult a healthcare provider for appropriate treatment immediately. It is not recommended for use in children or patients under 18 as safety and efficacy have not been established. Special caution is also required for the elderly, especially those over 75 years old who should use this medication with care. Store this medication out of reach of children, and it is safer to keep it in its original container.
