(Hypertension, Angina) Reducing cardiovascular risk and improving dyslipidemia
This medication is used for patients with hypertension or coronary artery disease who need to take both amlodipine and atorvastatin simultaneously. Amlodipine works by dilating blood vessels to improve hypertension and stable angina, as well as ischemia caused by variant angina. It also reduces the risk of hospitalization for angina in patients without heart failure and normal cardiac output, as well as the need for coronary revascularization. Atorvastatin lowers the risk of cardiovascular diseases like myocardial infarction, stroke, and angina, while improving serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels, thus aiding in the treatment of dyslipidemia. Additionally, it reduces the risk of revascularization and decreases the hospitalization risk due to congestive heart failure. In summary, this medication is effective for the prevention and treatment of hypertension and various cardiovascular diseases, and is used to improve serum lipid levels.
This medication is administered only to adults, and the dosage should be individualized for each patient based on the efficacy and tolerability of amlodipine/atorvastatin. Amlodipine (Escitalopram Amlodipine): Administer 5 (2.5) mg orally once daily, with a maximum increase of up to 10 (5) mg daily based on patient's response. Atorvastatin: The recommended initial dose is 10 mg once daily, and if needed, it can be increased to 20 mg or 40 mg.
