Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

The recommended dosage of this medication is 5 mg once daily. It can be taken regardless of meals.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients allergic to its main ingredient or any other components. It should also not be administered to patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Caution should be exercised when using this medication together with drugs that can cause hypoglycemia. In particular, when taken with insulin or sulfonylureas, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so dosage adjustment may be necessary. This medication should be used with caution in patients with heart failure, and if symptoms of acute pancreatitis occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. Additionally, a rare skin condition resembling bullous pemphigoid may occur, so if blisters or skin lesions develop, the patient should promptly inform a physician. During the course of treatment with this medication, symptoms of hypoglycemia may appear, so it is important to monitor blood sugar levels frequently and respond appropriately to any hypoglycemic symptoms. Use in pregnant or nursing women is not recommended, and safety and efficacy in children and adolescents have not been adequately established and are therefore not recommended. Elderly patients and those with decreased renal and liver function can use this medication without special dosage adjustments, but their condition should be closely monitored. The risk of interactions with other drugs is relatively low; however, caution is needed when used in combination with certain medications. If the patient is taking other medications, they must consult with their doctor or pharmacist. There is no specific antidote in case of overdose, so symptoms should be monitored, and necessary treatment should be received. The medication should be kept out of reach of children.
