This medicine improves gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea, and vomiting that occur in conditions like gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, and gastric and duodenal inflammation. It also helps relieve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colitis and is used in children to treat habitual vomiting and constipation and diarrhea due to non-infectious intestinal passage disorders. Overall, it is effective in improving various gastrointestinal-related symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

As Trimebutine Maleate, 100-200mg is taken orally 3 times a day before meals. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose, so it should not be taken by individuals with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Rarely, gastrointestinal side effects like constipation, diarrhea, abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, dry mouth, and oral numbness may occur upon taking this medication. Also, rarely, symptoms affecting the nervous system such as palpitations, fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headaches may appear. It may affect liver function, and an increase in liver enzyme levels can also rarely occur. If allergic reactions such as rashes occur, discontinuation of the medication should be immediate. The safety of this drug during pregnancy is not certain, so women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only take it when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. Breastfeeding women should also avoid taking this medication if possible, and if it must be taken, it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding.
