Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to quinolone antibiotics. Rarely, shock symptoms such as nausea, cold extremities, and difficulty breathing may occur; if these symptoms arise, discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate treatment. There may also be hypersensitivity reactions such as heart failure, angioedema, difficulty breathing, skin rash, or itching; if any of these occur, the use of this medication should be stopped. Temporary symptoms such as burning sensation or irritation in the eyes, discomfort, redness, swelling, blurred vision, tearing, dryness, and pain may appear, and in rare cases, severe keratitis or serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, so use should be discontinued if any unusual symptoms appear. Occasionally, auditory impairment or irritative symptoms may occur, so caution is necessary. Long-term use of this medication can lead to the proliferation of fungi or resistant bacteria, so it should only be used for the minimum necessary period; if superinfection is suspected, cease use immediately and seek alternative treatment. This medication has not been proven effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections, so if MRSA infection is suspected, it should be promptly switched to another antibiotic. Particularly, in elderly patients or when used with steroids, there is an increased risk of tendonitis or rupture, so if pain or inflammation occurs in the shoulder, hands, or Achilles tendon area, discontinue use immediately. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety is not established; if breastfeeding, they should stop breastfeeding or discontinue use of this medication. It is advisable not to use this medication in infants under one year old since its safety and effectiveness have not been confirmed. This medication is designed for use in the eyes only and should not be applied to other areas; care should be taken to avoid contact between the tip of the container and the eye during instillation. To prevent contamination, it is best to avoid shared use. When storing this medication, keep it out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and store in a cool place. It is also crucial not to transfer it to another container to maintain quality.
