Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals who have had an allergic reaction to this medication or other pyroxicam formulations. Individuals with aspirin-induced asthma or those who have experienced urticaria, rhinitis, or angioedema due to aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may also have serious asthma attacks or allergic responses, and should not use this medication. Furthermore, it is not established as safe for use in children under the age of 14. Patients with bronchial asthma should use it cautiously as it may exacerbate asthma symptoms. When using this medication, skin reactions such as itching, redness, rashes, scaly skin changes, eczema, contact dermatitis, or red spots may occur, and in rare cases, photosensitivity symptoms may develop; if these symptoms are severe, use should be discontinued. Long-term or excessive use may lead to systemic side effects such as nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort, breathing difficulties, or reduced kidney function, so caution is advised. This medication is a symptomatic treatment and not a cure for the underlying cause, thus other treatments appropriate for the symptoms should also be considered. When using it on an inflamed area accompanied by a skin infection, it may conceal the infection, so it should be used in conjunction with antibiotics or antifungals, and the condition should be monitored closely. When using for chronic conditions such as degenerative arthritis, other therapeutic methods should be combined, and the patient’s condition should be monitored carefully. It should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the last three months, due to potential risks to the fetus and delivery. Although animal studies have not shown major issues in early to mid-pregnancy, safety in humans has not been established. It is advisable that breastfeeding mothers do not use this medication as its ingredients may be excreted into breast milk. Safety has not been established for premature infants, neonates, infants, and young children. Elderly patients should use the smallest effective dose cautiously due to a higher risk of side effects. It should not be applied to areas with bleeding disorders, eczema, infections, burns, or wounds, nor should it be used with occlusive dressings. When applied to damaged skin, temporary irritation may occur, so caution is advised during use.
