This medication is used to effectively manage blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of telmisartan or amlodipine.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for adults is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water irrespective of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). In patients with renal impairment, no dosage adjustment is needed for mild to moderate renal impairment, but those with severe renal impairment should start at a lower dose and gradually increase. In patients with hepatic impairment, the daily dosage of telmisartan should not exceed 40 mg.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under the age of 18 have not been established, and therefore use is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious risks to the fetus during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters, therefore it should not be used by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. Patients with known allergies to the components of this drug, certain heart and liver diseases, severe hypotension, or shock states should not take this medication. Patients with impaired liver function or cholestatic liver disease and those with specific heart valve diseases should use this drug with caution. This drug has a blood pressure-lowering effect, so patients at risk of hypotension should regularly check their blood pressure while on this medication. There is a risk of hyperkalemia, so regular monitoring of serum potassium levels is necessary, and caution is advised when taking potassium supplements or medications containing potassium. Patients with impaired renal function should frequently monitor their kidney function and electrolyte levels while taking this drug. This medication can cause side effects such as dizziness and drowsiness; thus, patients should avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery while taking it. This medication may interact with other drugs, so patients must inform their doctor or pharmacist of any other medications they are taking. Its safety and efficacy have not been established in children; therefore, use in children is not recommended. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to this drug; therefore, caution is needed, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. In case of overdose, severe hypotension or heart-related issues may occur, thus dosage should be strictly adhered to, and any unusual symptoms should be discussed with medical personnel immediately. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and to maintain the quality of the product, it should not be transferred to other containers. It is safer to take the medication immediately after removing it from its packaging.
