This medication is used to effectively control the blood pressure of patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled by monotherapy with amlodipine or telmisartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meal times. It is advised to take it at the same time every day, if possible (e.g., in the morning). For patients with mild to moderate renal impairment, dose adjustment is not necessary; however, for severe renal impairment, treatment should start at a lower dose and be gradually increased. The daily dose of telmisartan for patients with liver impairment should not exceed 40 mg. Elderly patients should generally adhere to standard amlodipine dosing.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established; therefore, the use of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can pose a serious risk to the fetus, especially during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Therefore, it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with allergies to any of the ingredients, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and patients with severe liver dysfunction, hypotension, or serious heart-related conditions should not take this medication. Patients with impaired liver or kidney function, certain heart valve diseases, or gastrointestinal conditions must use this medication cautiously and should consult a doctor before taking it. Dizziness or symptoms of excessively low blood pressure may occur while taking this medication; if such symptoms occur, immediate rest is required, and medical personnel should be informed as necessary. Since there is a risk of hyperkalemia (elevated potassium levels in the blood), regular monitoring of serum potassium levels is advised, and caution should be taken when taking potassium supplements or potassium-containing medications simultaneously. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive medications; hence, if other medications are being taken, it is essential to inform a doctor or pharmacist. Caution is required since drowsiness or dizziness may occur while driving or operating machinery. In case of overdose, serious symptoms such as hypotension or arrhythmia may appear; therefore, strict adherence to the prescribed dose is necessary, and a doctor’s instructions should be followed. It is advisable not to use this medication in children as its safety and efficacy have not been adequately established.

Urticaria, severe swelling (angioedema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, sepsis, thrombocytopenia, anaphylactic reaction, fainting, myocardial infarction, ventricular tachycardia, arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, vasculitis, dyspnea, hepatitis, jaundice, severe skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson Syndrome), intestinal vascular edema, severe edema accompanied by elevated blood pressure, renal impairment (including acute renal failure), cerebral infarction, congestive heart failure.
