Treatment of ischemia due to hypertension and coronary artery disease (stable and variant angina) and reduction of hospitalization risk due to angina.
This medication is used for the treatment of hypertension and stable angina, as well as ischemia due to vascular spasms. In particular, it reduces the risk of hospitalization due to angina in patients with confirmed coronary artery disease through recent angiography, who do not have heart failure or have an ejection fraction of over 40%. It also helps reduce risks after coronary angioplasty, contributing to stable cardiovascular health. Thus, it is effective in the prevention and treatment of heart-related diseases, benefiting the improvement of patients' conditions.
Administer 5 mg orally once a day as amlodipine, which may be increased to a maximum of 10 mg per day depending on the patient's response. Adjustments should be made based on age and symptoms.
The effective oral dose of amlodipine for blood pressure reduction is 2.5 mg-5 mg once a day. Doses exceeding 5 mg per day have not been studied in pediatric patients.

Furthermore, this drug's effects appear slowly, so it is not suitable for acute angina treatment. This drug can interact with several other medications. Particularly, combining it with grapefruit juice may excessively increase the blood pressure-lowering effect, so they should not be taken together. Caution is also needed when used in combination with certain antibiotics, antihypertensives, diuretics, and immunosuppressants, and consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is advisable. In case of overdose, blood pressure may fall severely and heart rhythms may become irregular, so immediate medical attention is required, and emergency measures such as gastric lavage or activated charcoal administration may be necessary. Finally, this drug can be used in children and the elderly, but safety and efficacy have not been established for children under 6 years of age. For the elderly, a standard dose should be used while carefully monitoring for any side effects.
