This medication is used to clean the bowel thoroughly before a colonoscopy or colon X-ray examination. It helps maintain a clean bowel for smooth examinations. It plays a very crucial role in adequately preparing the bowel state before the examination. Therefore, this medication is used for bowel cleansing, which is essential for colonoscopy and colon X-ray examination procedures.

How to take

Adult dose

[Unit 1. Part A: 91.625g and Part B: 25.0g] [Preparation of the solution] Put 1 pouch each of part A and part B powder into a translucent plastic container, add an adequate amount of water to dissolve, then fill with water up to the 500mL mark and shake well to prepare the solution. [Dosing method] (a) Two-Day Split Dosing Method: On the evening before the examination, consume 500 mL of the prepared solution over 30 minutes, followed by 500 mL of water.

Precautions

This medication can rarely induce generalized tonic-clonic seizures even in patients without a history of seizures, so it should be used cautiously in patients at risk of electrolyte imbalances. This medication should not be administered to patients with specific gastrointestinal diseases such as bowel obstruction, gastrointestinal perforation, or toxic megacolon, and it should be used carefully in patients with severe ulcerative colitis. Particular caution is required for patients with heart disease or electrolyte imbalances, as serious arrhythmias may occur during administration. Common side effects may include hypersensitivity reactions, nausea, vomiting, and thirst. If these symptoms are severe, consult a healthcare professional. Electrolyte tests and renal function assessments should be performed before and after administration, and appropriate treatment should be provided if abnormalities are found. Adequate hydration is necessary during treatment, and diarrhea may occur; hence, additional fluids should be consumed to prevent dehydration. It is advisable for pregnant or breastfeeding women to avoid using this medication, and it should not be used in children due to the lack of established safety. Elderly or frail patients may be more sensitive to this medication, requiring careful observation during administration. In case of overdose, serious electrolyte imbalances and dehydration may occur, requiring immediate medical treatment. The prepared solution should be consumed within 6 hours, and any remaining solution should be discarded. Keep out of reach of children. Co-administration with other medications may interfere with the absorption of some drugs, so it is best to avoid taking other medications within 1 hour before or after administration. Avoid using irritant laxatives together with this medication as it may increase the risk of damage to the bowel mucosa.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in the mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy throughout the body, sudden and severe headache, lightning headache, seizures, altered consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, urination.
