Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of death in elderly dementia patients, so caution is required. The risk of cerebrovascular disease may be higher in dementia patients, so it is especially important to be careful if there are risk factors for stroke. There is a risk of venous thrombosis during the use of this medication, so it is necessary to check for risk factors for thrombosis and take preventive measures. It should not be used in patients who are comatose or who are taking central nervous system depressants. Serious interactions may occur when used in conjunction with adrenaline or certain antifungals and HIV protease inhibitors, so these combinations should be avoided. Patients with allergies to the components of this medication or those with lactose intolerance should also avoid using it. Patients with cardiovascular diseases, Parkinson's disease, seizure disorders, a risk of suicide, liver dysfunction, and diabetes should be administered cautiously and monitored closely. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid use or make careful judgments as it may affect the fetus or newborn. This medication can cause drowsiness and reduced attention, so caution is needed when driving or operating dangerous machinery. Blood sugar may be increased, so diabetic patients should periodically check their blood sugar levels. If any abnormal symptoms occur during use, consult a doctor immediately, and this medication should be taken after meals for stable effects. Additionally, since this medication is metabolized in the liver, caution is required as drug concentrations may increase in patients with impaired liver function or when used with drugs that inhibit CYP3A4 enzyme activity. Elderly patients are at higher risk for side effects, so they should be administered cautiously and monitored frequently. Safety in children and neonates has not been established, so usage is not recommended.
