  • Essential hypertension
View approved original text

This medication is used when blood pressure is not adequately controlled in patients with essential hypertension through combination therapy with amlodipine and olmesartan medoxomil. The actions of the two drugs complement each other to effectively lower and control blood pressure. This helps reduce the risk of complications from hypertension and improves cardiovascular health in patients. This medication is used to support the treatment of hypertension patients more effectively.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Do not take this medication if you have a history of allergies or hypersensitivity reactions to this medication or any of its components, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have severe hypotension or heart valve disease, have acute heart failure or severe kidney and liver dysfunction. Caution is required for those with low blood volume or electrolyte imbalances as blood pressure may drop rapidly at the onset of treatment, and their condition should be closely monitored during treatment. Patients with impaired kidney function or kidney transplant recipients, those with renovascular hypertension, and those with severe liver dysfunction require special precautions when taking this medication. Since this medication lowers blood pressure, it can cause dizziness; therefore, caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery. This medication may interact with other drugs, so you must consult with your doctor or pharmacist, especially if you are taking lithium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or other antihypertensive medications. This medication can cause electrolyte imbalances, so it is important to regularly check serum electrolyte levels through blood tests. If breastfeeding, it is recommended to discontinue nursing or stop taking the medication as its components may pass into breast milk. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in children under 18 years of age, so its use is not recommended. Elderly patients are advised to start at a low dose considering the possibility of impaired kidney and liver functions. In the case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, palpitations, and dizziness may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention. This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from light and moisture, and should be kept out of reach of children; transferring it to another container is to be avoided.
