This medication helps improve gastrointestinal abnormal symptoms caused by esophageal reflux and hiatal hernia, inflammation and ulcers of the stomach and duodenum, such as abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, and vomiting. It also alleviates discomfort caused by irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colon, aiding in the smooth regulation of bowel movements. In children, it is used to treat constipation or diarrhea manifested by habitual vomiting and non-infectious bowel transit disorders. It comprehensively improves various gastrointestinal-related symptoms, thus helping to enhance the quality of life for patients.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer 100-200 mg of Trimebutine Maleate orally three times a day before meals. Adjust dosage appropriately based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication may affect the gastrointestinal system and can rarely cause constipation, diarrhea, abdominal sounds or discomfort, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, dry mouth or tingling in the mouth. Additionally, symptoms of rapid heartbeat may also occur rarely. Mental and neurological symptoms such as fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headache have also been reported rarely. It may affect liver function, potentially increasing liver enzyme levels. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes may occur, so if these symptoms arise, the medication should be discontinued. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been sufficiently established, so women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use it only when the benefits outweigh the risks. Moreover, nursing mothers are advised not to take this medication, and if unavoidable, it is safer to discontinue breastfeeding.
