Treatment and prevention of gastroesophageal reflux disease (erosive reflux esophagitis), treatment of Helicobacter pylori-positive peptic ulcer, alleviation of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
This medication is effective for treating gastroesophageal reflux disease and the esophagitis caused by it, as well as for preventing recurrence. It is also used for the treatment and prevention of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. It helps in treating and preventing gastrointestinal symptoms and gastric ulcers associated with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is effective for treating Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and is used as maintenance therapy to prevent recurrent bleeding due to gastric ulcers or duodenal ulcers. Overall, it is used to improve various symptoms and diseases related to gastric and duodenal disorders.
This medication should be swallowed with liquids such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - Maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. - Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. After symptom relief, if continued symptoms occur, 20 mg can be administered once daily as needed.
Adolescents aged 12 and over: - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to patients who are allergic to this drug or its components or have had hypersensitivity reactions to benzimidazole derivatives. Additionally, when treating Helicobacter pylori eradication, patients with allergies to certain antibiotics such as amoxicillin or clarithromycin should avoid using this drug. This medication should not be used in combination with certain heart-related medications, and it should not be administered to patients with a history of myocardial infarction or breastfeeding women. Caution is needed when taking this medication, as various adverse reactions may occur. Symptoms such as decreased blood cell count, allergic reactions, neurological symptoms (headache, dizziness), gastrointestinal disturbances (abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting), liver function abnormalities, and skin rashes have been reported. Although rare, severe skin reactions or serious muscle-related side effects may occur, thus immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is required if symptoms appear. When using this medication for a long time, regular examinations are necessary, and there may be a slight increase in the risk of gastrointestinal bacterial infections, so if diarrhea persists, inform your doctor. Additionally, due to the increased risk of fractures, it is essential to manage patients at risk for osteoporosis with care. This medication has a significant potential for drug interactions, so if you are taking certain antivirals, antibiotics, anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, etc., you must inform your healthcare professional. During pregnancy, caution is required when using this medication, and it is safer not to use it while breastfeeding. In the case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so it is important to receive symptomatic treatment, and it should be kept out of reach of children.
Urticaria, angioedema, anaphylaxis reactions/shock, hypomagnesemia (severe), jaundice, hepatitis, liver failure, mucocutaneous syndrome (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome), acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), interstitial nephritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, cutaneous lupus erythematosus, rhabdomyolysis, severe allergic reactions, severe skin adverse reactions, respiratory.

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture, and it is important to keep it at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way helps maintain the drug's effectiveness and prevents deterioration.
