Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if used during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, so it should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. This medication should not be administered to patients with certain conditions, such as severe liver disease, heart valve problems, severe hypotension, or patients in an unstable condition post-acute myocardial infarction. Special caution is required for patients with primary aldosteronism, impaired liver function, gastrointestinal disorders, or issues with renal vasculature. Common side effects during treatment include dizziness and peripheral edema, and serious side effects may rarely occur; therefore, immediate consultation with healthcare providers is necessary if symptoms appear. It is vital not to use this medication during pregnancy, and if pregnancy is confirmed, it should be discontinued as soon as possible. Due to the risk of excessively low blood pressure, special care must be taken if fluids or salt are insufficient, and proper treatment should be sought immediately if signs of hypotension occur. Regular blood tests to monitor potassium levels are recommended, as this medication may increase serum potassium. Patients with renal problems should frequently check their kidney function before and during treatment, and caution is needed as there is limited experience using this medication in kidney transplant patients. During treatment, patients may experience dizziness or drowsiness when driving or operating dangerous machinery. There is potential for drug interactions, so any current medications should be disclosed to healthcare providers, particularly when taken alongside specific heart medications, diuretics, and analgesics. In case of overdose, symptoms such as low blood pressure, dizziness, and heart rhythm abnormalities may occur; immediate emergency treatment is necessary, and self-treatment should be avoided. This medication is not recommended for children due to the establishment of safety and efficacy being lacking. For the elderly, reactions to the medication may be more sensitive, so careful dose adjustment is recommended.
