Improvement of gastrointestinal diseases, including treatment and prevention of recurrence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (erosive reflux esophagitis) and treatment of Helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcers.
This medication is used for long-term maintenance therapy to treat and prevent recurrence of erosive reflux esophagitis associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease. It also helps relieve symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is used in combination with antibiotics for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori and for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal and peptic ulcers. It briefly alleviates gastrointestinal symptoms caused by the administration of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and is also used to treat gastric ulcers in patients requiring continuous administration and to prevent gastric and duodenal ulcers. Additionally, it is utilized for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and as maintenance therapy for the prevention of rebleeding of gastric or duodenal ulcers after intravenous administration.
This medication should be swallowed with liquid such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1. Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms persist, an additional 4 weeks of treatment may be considered. 2. Maintenance therapy for prevention of recurrence: 20 mg once daily. 3. Treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease: 20 mg once daily. Even after symptom relief, treatment should continue if necessary.
Adolescents over 12 years old 1. Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms persist, an additional 4 weeks of treatment may be considered. 2. Treatment of symptoms without esophagitis: once daily.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. Patients with an allergy to this drug or its ingredients, or those with hypersensitivity to penicillin antibiotics or macrolide antibiotics should not take it. Additionally, patients taking certain heart-related medications or with a history of myocardial infarction, as well as breastfeeding women, should also avoid this drug. Various side effects may occur from taking this medication, so if there are any unusual symptoms, immediate consultation with healthcare personnel is necessary. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, as well as skin reactions, itching, and rarely serious skin reactions can occur. Long-term use requires regular testing of blood tests or magnesium levels, and the risk of fractures may increase, so caution is advised. This medication can interact with other drugs, so it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medications. Particular care is needed when used in conjunction with antibiotics, anticoagulants, or antiviral drugs. Pregnant use has not been fully confirmed safe, so it should be cautiously used under a doctor's supervision. In breastfeeding situations, it is recommended to avoid taking this medication as it may pass into breast milk. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so symptomatic treatment and general management are necessary. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in its original container to maintain quality.
Urticaria, angioedema, anaphylaxis, shock, angioedema, urticaria, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug response with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, jaundice, liver failure, encephalopathy, severe edema, severe allergic reactions, dyspnea, severe edema, serious hypomagnesemia, serious neurological symptoms (including seizures), severe headaches.
Headache, dizziness, paresthesia, drowsiness, taste disturbance, blurred vision, bronchospasm, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, stomatitis, elevated liver enzymes, hepatitis, skin dermatitis, itching, rash, hair loss, photosensitivity, fractures, joint pain, muscle pain, muscle weakness, nephritis, gynecomastia, asthenia, increased sweating, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, allergic reactions, chest pain, facial edema, flushing.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container, protected from air and moisture. It is best to maintain the storage temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius.
