Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients who are allergic to α-lipoic acid or other excipients. Also, due to the lack of clinical experience in children and adolescents, it is not recommended for use in this age group. Rarely, gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occur after taking this medication. Allergic reactions like skin rash, hives, or itching can occur infrequently. As blood sugar levels may drop, symptoms of hypoglycemia such as dizziness, sweating, headache, and vision problems can occur. Disturbances in taste have been reported rarely. It is advisable to avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication, as alcohol may exacerbate neuropathy symptoms and interfere with the drug's effectiveness. Taking this medication alongside cisplatin may reduce the effectiveness of cisplatin. Additionally, taking it with metal preparations containing iron or magnesium, or with milk may lead to the formation of insoluble substances in the body, so it is recommended to not take them together. Iron and magnesium supplements should be taken 30 minutes after this medication or during meals for safety. When taken with insulin or other blood glucose-lowering agents, the hypoglycemic effect may be increased, so blood sugar levels should be monitored frequently, and medication dosages adjusted as necessary. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should take this medication only after carefully weighing its benefits and risks in consultation with a healthcare provider. In cases of overdose, severe toxic symptoms can occur, with initial symptoms including anxiety and altered consciousness, and in severe cases, generalized convulsions and acidosis may arise. Immediate medical attention is required in such cases. This medication should not be stored at temperatures above 30 degrees and must be kept out of the reach of children. Also, do not transfer it to another container, and it is advisable to maintain the original packaging to ensure quality and safety.
