This medication is used in combination therapy with amlodipine and olmesartan medoxomil for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not well controlled with previous treatment. It dilates blood vessels, lowering blood pressure and reducing the burden on the heart. By taking it consistently, it helps to manage blood pressure stably, reducing the risk of complications. Therefore, this medication is effectively used for the treatment of essential hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken once daily, 1 tablet, with or without food. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (for example, in the morning). The recommended dosages are as follows: - 5/20/12.5 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine/olmesartan medoxomil 5/20 mg combination therapy. - 5/40/12.5 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine/olmesartan medoxomil 5/40 mg.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, and administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy as it may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn. Administration should be stopped immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy, and if planning to become pregnant, it is necessary to switch to another safe antihypertensive therapy. Patients with allergies to any ingredients in this medication or similar drugs, severe hypotension, severe heart disease such as heart valve disorders, and heart failure after acute myocardial infarction should not use this medication. Additionally, patients with severe renal impairment, hepatic dysfunction, biliary obstruction, and electrolyte imbalances should use this medication with caution. Due to the risk of excessively low blood pressure, patients with reduced blood volume or those taking high doses of diuretics should be closely monitored when starting treatment. Patients with weakened renal function should regularly check their renal function and electrolyte levels through blood tests, and the safety for kidney transplant patients has not been established. Patients with liver diseases or progressive cirrhosis also need caution when using this medication, and the risk of hepatic coma necessitates close monitoring of their condition. Elderly patients or those with certain heart conditions, as well as patients with a history of allergies or asthma, should also be cautious as they have a higher likelihood of side effects from this medication. This medication may induce photosensitivity; therefore, special care should be taken to protect the skin from sun exposure, and if skin rash or abnormalities appear, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is advised. Additionally, this medication has many interactions with other drugs; so, if taking any other medications, it is essential to inform the physician or pharmacist. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, palpitations, and bradycardia may occur, requiring immediate treatment in a hospital. Store this medication out of reach of children and avoid humidity, heat, and direct sunlight.
