Treatment of inflammatory disorders of the outer and anterior segments of the eye (e.g., blepharitis, conjunctivitis)
This medication is used for inflammatory disorders occurring in the outer and anterior segments of the eye. It is effective in treating various inflammations, including eyelid inflammation (blepharitis), conjunctivitis, keratitis, scleritis, episcleritis, iritis, cyclitis, and uveitis. It is also used to address inflammation occurring after surgery, improving discomfort and symptoms in the eye. This medication helps alleviate inflammation and restores eye health. It is widely used for the treatment of various ocular inflammatory diseases.
1 to 2 drops at a time, instilled 2 to 4 times a day. Adjust dosage appropriately according to symptoms.
This medication should not be used in patients with viral conjunctival diseases, fungal eye disorders, mycobacterial infections, or chronic blepharitis. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication should avoid its use. Caution is needed in patients with corneal epithelial damage or ulcers, patients with tuberculous or purulent eye diseases, glaucoma patients, and infants under 2 years of age. Long-term use of this medication may lead to increased intraocular pressure, glaucoma, or optic nerve damage, hence regular intraocular pressure checks are necessary. There is a risk of worsening corneal infections or ulcers; consult a healthcare professional immediately if symptoms occur. Long-term use may increase the risk of posterior subcapsular cataracts or secondary infections. Acute purulent endophthalmitis may be masked or exacerbated, so caution is advised. The phosphate component in this medication may rarely cause corneal calcification; therefore, caution is warranted in cases of severe corneal damage. Delayed wound healing may occur after cataract surgery, and prolonged use may suppress pituitary and adrenal function. If hypersensitivity reactions occur, discontinue use immediately. Serious complications may occur if infected with varicella or measles during treatment; therefore, check medical history and vaccination status to prevent infection. Using without a physician's diagnosis in cases of red eye may lead to blindness, hence must follow expert guidance. Patients with a history of herpes simplex require careful monitoring, and if used for more than 10 days, regular intraocular pressure checks are essential. If inflammation and pain persist or worsen beyond 48 hours, discontinue use and consult a physician. Contact lens wearers should remove lenses prior to instillation and can reinsert them at least 30 minutes after. Temporary blurred vision may occur after instillation; avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Special caution is needed for children and patients taking specific medications due to an increased risk of systemic side effects. The risk of systemic side effects may increase when co-administered with CYP3A4 inhibitors; therefore, consult a physician. Pregnant women or those who could become pregnant should avoid long-term use, and nursing mothers should refrain from use, or if necessary, discontinue breastfeeding. Safety in infants and children has not been established; therefore, use cautiously. Elderly patients should be particularly careful due to decreased physiological function. This medication is for ophthalmic use only, and care must be taken to avoid contact between the container tip and the eye. Shake well before use, avoid contamination by not sharing, and disposable products should be used immediately after opening and any remaining medication should be discarded. During storage, keep in a tight container away from children, avoid very hot or very cold places, and store at room temperature.
