This medication is used to assist patients with type 2 diabetes in controlling their blood glucose levels. It plays a supportive role alongside dietary and exercise regimens and can be administered alone or in combination with other medications. This enables effective management of blood glucose levels and aids in diabetes treatment.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

The recommended dosage for this medication is 5mg once daily. It can be administered regardless of meals.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients who have allergies to the active ingredient or other components. It should also not be administered to patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Caution is necessary when used with insulin or sulfonylureas, which can cause hypoglycemia, as the risk of hypoglycemia may increase. Experience is limited in patients with heart failure, so it should be administered cautiously. Acute pancreatitis symptoms may occur during treatment, so if there is persistent severe abdominal pain, you should stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. A skin condition known as bullous pemphigoid may occur, so if blisters or sores develop on the skin, you should inform your doctor immediately and discontinue the medication if necessary. Hypoglycemic symptoms may occur during treatment, so you should respond immediately if symptoms develop. It is not recommended for pregnant women, and caution should be exercised in nursing mothers. It is advisable not to use this medication in children under 10 years of age as safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients or those with impaired kidney and liver function can use it without special dosage adjustment, but their condition should be closely monitored. In the case of overdose, unabsorbed medication should be removed from the gastrointestinal tract, symptoms should be monitored, and appropriate treatment should be administered. Store the medication out of reach of children and do not transfer it to another container.
