Telmisartan Plus Tablet 80/12.5 mg (Telmisartan, Hydrochlorothiazide)

Adult dose

For adults, when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with telmisartan alone, it should be taken once daily with a beverage, regardless of meal timing. As the doses of each component are fixed, it is recommended to adjust the doses of each component according to the individual before changing to this medication. Switching directly from monotherapy to this medication is also possible. - The Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 40/12.5 mg can be given to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with Telmisartan 40 mg. - The Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 80/12.5 mg can be given to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with Telmisartan 80 mg. - The Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 80/25 mg can be given to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with either Telmisartan 80 mg with Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg single agent or combination therapy. Before starting this medication, sodium or fluid depletion must be corrected. Patients with kidney impairment Adjustment of dosage is not required for patients with mild to moderate kidney impairment. This medication should not be administered to patients with severe kidney impairment (creatinine clearance <30 mL/min). Regular monitoring of renal function is recommended. Patients with liver impairment This medication should be administered with caution in patients with mild to moderate liver impairment. This medication should not be given at dosages exceeding 40/12.5 mg daily. This medication should not be administered to patients with severe liver impairment (refer to precautions for use 2). Thiazide diuretics should be administered with caution in patients with liver function impairment. Elderly No dosage adjustment is necessary. Children Safety and efficacy have not been established for pediatric patients under 18 years of age.

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, so it should be stopped immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to the components of this medication or those with specific liver or kidney diseases should not use it. Elderly patients, those with high potassium levels, and patients with impaired liver function should take this medication with caution. The hydrochlorothiazide component may cause increased sensitivity to sunlight, so precautions against UV exposure are necessary, and regular skin examinations are required due to the increased risk of skin cancer. Symptoms such as dizziness, hypotension, and electrolyte imbalance may occur while taking this medication, and if any symptoms arise, immediate consultation with healthcare personnel is necessary. Interactions may occur when taken with other antihypertensive medications or specific drugs, so it is essential to inform healthcare personnel of any ongoing medications. Caution is required when driving or operating machinery, as symptoms of dizziness or drowsiness may occur. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should not take this medication, and those planning to become pregnant should be switched to another safer medication. Overdose may lead to hypotension, electrolyte abnormalities, and dehydration, hence prescribed dosages should be strictly followed. Safety has not been established for children, so this medication should not be administered to them. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to another container.
