Improvement of essential hypertension
Essential hypertension refers to a condition where blood pressure is consistently high without a specific cause. This medicine lowers blood pressure, thereby reducing the burden on the heart and blood vessels. It helps to lower the risk of complications such as myocardial infarction and stroke through the management of hypertension. The treatment effect is enhanced when used consistently along with lifestyle improvement. It is used safely and effectively for the treatment of essential hypertension.
The recommended initial dose is 10mg once daily, irrespective of meals. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled at this dose, it may be increased to 20mg once daily. If further blood pressure-lowering effect is needed, it may be increased to a maximum of 40mg once daily. The blood pressure-lowering effect appears within 2 weeks of starting treatment, with maximum effect observed after about 8 weeks. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy, it can be combined with thiazide diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide.
