Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or other piroxicam formulations. It should also be avoided in patients with asthma exacerbated by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) who have a history of asthma attacks, as severe asthma attacks may occur with its use. This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergic symptoms such as hives, rhinitis, or angioedema after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs. It is advisable not to use this medication in children under 14 years of age, as safety has not been established. Patients with bronchial asthma should be cautious when using this medication as it may worsen asthma symptoms. This medication contains propylene glycol, which should be used with caution in patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to this ingredient. Skin symptoms such as itching, redness, rash, scaly skin peeling, eczema, dermatitis, contact dermatitis, and red spots may occur, and rarely, photosensitivity may develop. If these symptoms worsen, medication should be discontinued. Long-term use or excessive amounts can lead to symptoms such as nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort, breathing difficulties, and renal dysfunction, so caution is advised. This medication is for symptomatic relief and does not treat the underlying cause, so it should be used appropriately for treatment purposes. When used on an inflamed area with a concurrent skin infection, care should be taken to use antibacterial or antifungal agents to avoid worsening the infection and monitor the condition closely. When used for chronic conditions such as degenerative arthritis, other treatment methods should also be utilized in conjunction with pharmacotherapy, and careful monitoring of the patient's condition is necessary. In late pregnancy, this medication should be avoided as it may delay delivery or cause bleeding, heart, and kidney issues in the newborn. While no specific fetal issues were found in animal tests during early to mid-pregnancy, safety in pregnant women is uncertain, so caution is needed. It is preferable not to administer this medication to nursing women as it may be secreted in small amounts in breast milk. Safety has not been established in premature infants, newborns, infants, and children, so it is advisable not to use this medication. Elderly patients may experience adverse reactions more easily, so the minimum effective dose should be used, and careful observation is required. This medication should not be used on areas with bleeding disorders, eczema, infections, burns, wounds, and around the eyes and mucous membranes. This medication should not be used with occlusive dressing, and caution should be exercised as temporary irritation may be felt when used on damaged skin.
