Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension
The combination of amlodipine and olmesartan medoxomil is used to appropriately control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. Each ingredient acts to lower blood pressure, making it effective for hypertension management. If blood pressure improves through this medication, the risk of cardiovascular complications can be reduced. Therefore, this combination is beneficial for patients who struggle to control blood pressure due to essential hypertension.
This medication should be taken once daily with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). The recommended dosages are as follows: - 5/20/12.5 mg: For patients whose blood pressure is not appropriately controlled with amlodipine/olmesartan medoxomil combination therapy of 5/20 mg. - 5/40/12.5 mg: For patients whose blood pressure is not appropriately controlled with amlodipine/olmesartan medoxomil combination therapy of 5/40 mg.

Patients with an allergy to this medication or any ingredients contained within, or those with specific heart, kidney, or liver diseases, as well as pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this drug. Patients who have certain conditions, such as significantly low blood pressure, severe heart failure, or severely impaired kidney function, need to exercise special caution when using this medication. Due to the strong blood pressure-lowering effects of this drug, symptoms of blood pressure drop may occur upon initial intake; therefore, careful monitoring of the condition is necessary. If symptoms are severe, patients should lie down to rest and seek intravenous treatment if needed. This medication may affect kidney function, so patients with kidney disease should have their kidney function and electrolyte levels regularly checked by blood tests. Patients with liver disease or certain heart conditions should be cautious as hepatic coma or cardiovascular issues may arise while taking this medication. This medication can cause photosensitivity reactions; therefore, caution is advised when exposed to sunlight. It is recommended to stop taking the medication if adverse reactions occur. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur while taking this medication, so driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided. This drug may interact with other medications, so it is essential to inform the doctor or pharmacist of any other medications being taken. Overdose can result in symptoms like low blood pressure or palpitations; if symptoms are severe, it is imperative to visit a hospital for appropriate treatment. This medication has not been established for safety and efficacy in children, and therefore it is not recommended for use in this population. Elderly patients may experience enhanced effects from this medication due to decreased kidney and liver function, thus starting at a lower dose and careful monitoring is advised.
