Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension
Using amlodipine and olmesartan medoxomil together helps effectively control the blood pressure of patients with essential hypertension. These two ingredients work together to lower blood pressure and reduce the burden on the heart and blood vessels. It is particularly suitable for patients with hypertension that is not controlled by a single medication via combination therapy. Stable blood pressure management can reduce the risk of complications such as myocardial infarction and stroke. Therefore, this medication plays an important role in the treatment of hypertension and is used to improve patients' health.
This medication is taken once daily in one tablet with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., morning). The maximum allowable dose is 10/40/25 mg for amlodipine/olmesartan medoxomil/hydrochlorothiazide. Dosing should be adjusted considering the patient's blood pressure response at intervals of more than 2 weeks. Special care should be taken to adjust doses for patients with renal impairment, liver impairment, and the elderly.
Safety and efficacy for pediatric patients under 18 years have not been established; therefore, the use of this medication is not recommended.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, if pregnancy is confirmed, it must be stopped immediately. Patients with allergies to this medication or its ingredients, those with certain heart, kidney, or liver diseases, pregnant and breastfeeding women should not take this medication. Patients with very low blood pressure or unstable heart failure following acute myocardial infarction, as well as patients with severe hypotension or shock, may face risks when taking this medication. This medication has a strong blood pressure-lowering effect, so caution is needed for patients with low blood volume or reduced salt levels, as hypotension symptoms may appear. Patients with impaired kidney function, kidney transplant recipients, patients with decreased liver function, and those with specific heart valve diseases should be monitored carefully when taking this medication. This medication can cause electrolyte imbalance, so potassium, sodium, and other levels should be monitored regularly through blood tests. Additionally, this medication may commonly cause side effects such as headache, dizziness, and peripheral edema, so patients should consult a doctor if symptoms are severe. It may interact with other medications, so patients taking lithium, certain diuretics, antihypertensives, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) should inform their healthcare providers. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should avoid using this medication, and it is not recommended during breastfeeding. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to this medication and should start with a lower dose and take it carefully. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, palpitations, bradycardia may occur, necessitating immediate treatment at a healthcare facility. This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container, avoiding direct sunlight and moisture, and out of reach of children.
