How to take

Adult dose

As Almagate, 1 g is taken orally three times a day after meals, 30 minutes to 1 hour after meals, and may be taken once more before bedtime if necessary.

Child dose

Children aged 12 years and older should take the same dosage as adults.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to this drug or its ingredients. Patients with Alzheimer’s disease, hemorrhoids, fluid retention, pregnancy toxemia, those experiencing diarrhea, and patients with unexplained gastrointestinal bleeding should avoid this medication. Additionally, since this medication contains lactose, it should not be taken by individuals with a genetic inability to digest lactose. While taking this medication, it is advisable not to use it in conjunction with tetracycline antibiotics, as co-administration may interfere with antibiotic absorption. Individuals taking other medications should consult with a doctor or pharmacist, as this medication may affect drug absorption or excretion. Special care should be taken to space the administration of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, ulcer medications, digitalis preparations, certain antibiotics, and iron supplements by 2-3 hours. Patients with renal insufficiency should be cautious, as the magnesium and aluminum components contained in this medication may accumulate in the body; this medication is not recommended for those with severe renal impairment. Individuals who are weak or consume a low-phosphorus diet, or those with poor digestion and absorption may find that the aluminum component of this medication hinders phosphorus absorption, potentially affecting bone health, thus necessary caution is needed for prolonged use. Elderly individuals, those with symptoms of gastrointestinal bleeding, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should consult with a healthcare professional before taking this medication. If constipation or diarrhea occurs while taking this medication, it is essential to stop immediately and consult a healthcare professional. If symptoms do not improve after taking the medication for more than two weeks, it is necessary to discontinue its use and consult a doctor. This medication must be taken according to the prescribed dosage, and parental supervision is required when administering to children.
