This medication is used to effectively control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. Additionally, it helps lower the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and mortality due to cardiovascular diseases in patients aged 55 years and older who are at high risk for cardiovascular disease, particularly those with a history of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, stroke, or transient ischemic attack, or those with diabetes leading to damage to end organs. This drug is suitable as an alternative therapy when ACE inhibitors cannot be used. Therefore, it plays an important role in blood pressure management and cardiovascular disease prevention, improving the health of patients.

How to take

Adult dose

1. Essential Hypertension As Telmisartan, take 40 mg orally once daily with water, regardless of meals. For some patients, 20 mg once daily may also be effective. Precautions

This medication can pose serious harm or risk of death to the fetus and newborn during pregnancy; thus, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should not take this medication, nor should it be used by patients with severe liver or biliary problems. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or have a history of certain angioedema should avoid taking it. In cases where diabetic patients have severely compromised kidney function, the combination with certain other medications is prohibited. Elderly patients or those with elevated potassium levels, and those with liver dysfunction should use this medication cautiously, as well as patients with heart or kidney disease. During treatment with this medication, there is a risk of blood pressure dropping too low, so symptoms should be monitored closely, and immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary if blood pressure falls sharply. Regular blood tests to check kidney function and electrolyte levels are important.
