This medication helps reduce the risks of various cardiovascular diseases. It decreases the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in adults with risk factors for coronary heart disease or type 2 diabetes, and also reduces the risks associated with vascular interventions and angina. Furthermore, in patients with clinical evidence, it lowers the risk of hospitalization due to myocardial infarction, stroke, angina, and congestive heart failure. This medication improves total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apo-B protein, and triglyceride levels in the treatment of hyperlipidemia, and plays a role in increasing HDL cholesterol levels. It is particularly used as an adjunct treatment in various types of dyslipidemia patients who do not respond to dietary interventions and in children with familial hypercholesterolemia. This medication is widely used to improve cardiovascular health and reduce risk factors.

Precautions

Treatment should be discontinued immediately if there are abnormal muscle symptoms. There is a risk of serious muscle diseases such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis, so consult a doctor if these symptoms occur. This medication should not be used in individuals with allergic reactions or severe liver dysfunction, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and children under 10 years of age. Patients with compromised liver or kidney function, alcohol dependence, hypothyroidism, and elderly patients who are at high risk for muscle abnormalities should use this medication cautiously and require regular check-ups. If any allergic symptoms, such as liver dysfunction, skin rash, hives, or difficulty breathing, appear while using this medication, inform a physician immediately. This medication may interact with other drugs, especially if taken with certain antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, and other lipid-lowering agents, so caution is needed, and consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is recommended. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication, and women of childbearing age must use appropriate contraception while on this medication. Elderly patients or those with diminished renal function are at higher risk for muscle abnormalities, so they should be carefully observed for symptoms such as muscle pain or weakness while on this medication. There is no specific detoxification method for overdose, so appropriate treatment should be administered based on symptoms, and liver function and muscle enzyme levels should be regularly checked. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in its original container for safety.
