Precautions
This medication can occasionally cause generalized tonic-clonic seizures, even in patients without a history of seizures; therefore, caution is required for patients with electrolyte abnormalities or those taking medications with a high risk of electrolyte abnormalities. This medication should not be used in patients with serious gastrointestinal conditions such as intestinal obstruction, gastrointestinal perforation, toxic colitis, etc., and should be administered with caution in patients with severe ulcerative colitis. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication or its components, suspected gastrointestinal obstruction or perforation, severe dehydration or heart failure, active cancers, gastric outlet obstruction, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, unconscious patients, and children under 18 should not be treated with this medication. Patients with intestinal stenosis or severe constipation, elderly people, weakened patients, those with vomiting reflex disturbances or altered consciousness, and patients with severe kidney dysfunction should be treated with caution. Before and during administration, the patient's bowel movements should be monitored, and if significant abdominal bloating or pain occurs, the administration rate may need to be adjusted or paused. If symptoms of fluid or electrolyte abnormalities occur, immediate testing and appropriate treatment are required, and patients at risk of cardiac disease or electrolyte imbalance should be especially monitored. This medication can cause diarrhea, so adequate fluid intake is crucial, and it should be avoided in combination with irritant laxatives, as this may increase the risk of mucosal ulcers or ischemic colitis. Before administration, caution is needed as the absorption of orally taken medications within at least 1 hour can be hindered, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor prior to administration. Safety and effectiveness in children have not been established, so it should not be used in this population, and caution is needed as older adults may be more sensitive to the medication. In case of overdose, dehydration and severe electrolyte abnormalities may occur, so immediate medical attention should be sought, and proper treatment must be given. This medication should not have any other ingredients or flavors added to the solution, and it should be consumed immediately after preparation, with any remaining solution disposed of within 24 hours.
