This medication is used for disinfecting hands and skin. It is particularly effective for health care workers and surgeons to thoroughly disinfect their hands before surgeries, and it is also utilized for disinfecting medical instruments, surfaces, and equipment. Additionally, it helps clean and disinfect skin wounds to prevent infections. Overall, it is used to reduce the risk of infections.
As Chlorhexidine Gluconate, dilute to the desired concentration of 0.05% to 0.5% depending on the purpose of use. For hand and skin disinfection, use a solution of 0.1 to 0.5%. For disinfection of medical instruments, use a solution of 0.1 to 0.5%. For disinfection of furniture, equipment, and skin wound areas, use a solution of 0.05%.
This medication contains chlorhexidine as an active ingredient, used for sterilizing the skin or wounds. However, this drug should not be used by individuals who are allergic to chlorhexidine. It should especially not be applied to sensitive areas such as the brain, spinal cord, ears, or mucous membranes of the vagina, bladder, or oral cavity. Serious side effects may occur if used in these areas. Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes; if it accidentally enters the eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water immediately. Otherwise, severe corneal damage or vision impairment may occur. Individuals with allergies to other medications or those with allergic conditions such as asthma should use this drug with caution. If symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, shortness of breath, or skin redness occur during use, discontinue immediately and consult a healthcare professional. It is advisable to avoid using this drug in pregnant or lactating women as safety has not been established. It should not be ingested or administered through injection, and if ingested by accident, appropriate emergency care should be sought. Caution should be exercised to avoid inhaling vapors with extensive or prolonged use, and it is not recommended to use it on newborns or premature infants. After use, it is important to maintain appropriate storage temperature and pH, and any remaining solution should be discarded immediately after opening. Furthermore, this drug may react with certain materials of medical devices or soaps, so caution is required during use.
