Precautions

Caution should be taken as administering more than 5,000 IU of vitamin A daily to women within the first three months of pregnancy or those who may become pregnant can increase the risk of congenital disabilities in the fetus. Patients with hypercalcemia, sarcoidosis, kidney diseases, kidney stone history, and infants under 3 months old should not take this medication. Levodopa should not be taken in conjunction with this medication; therefore, consultation with a healthcare professional is required if other medications are being taken. Infants under 1 year old, patients under medical treatment, children exposed to a lot of sunlight with normal diets, patients with primary hyperoxaluria, pregnant or breastfeeding women, premature infants, patients with gout or a history of kidney stones should consult with a physician, dentist, or pharmacist before taking this medication. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, skin itching, dryness, joint swelling, discomfort in the stomach, diarrhea, constipation, rash, or redness occur while taking this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. Furthermore, side effects such as irregular menstruation, increased bleeding, increased risk of thrombosis, neuropathic symptoms, aggravation of peptic ulcers, glucose intolerance damage, liver damage, and increased risk of osteoporosis may occur, so caution is warranted. This medication should be taken according to the prescribed dosage and administration; especially when administered to children, it must be used under parental supervision. Vitamin A can also be sufficiently supplied through a normal diet, so when used as adjunct therapy, care should be taken not to exceed 5,000 IU per day. Taking this medication may affect blood glucose detection in urine tests, and urine may turn yellow, so this should be considered when interpreting test results. When storing, keep it out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and store in a sealed container in a cool, dry place.
