This medication is used for the treatment of erosive esophagitis caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease and to prevent recurrence. It is also effective in alleviating symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is used in combination with antibiotics for the treatment and prevention of recurring peptic ulcers in patients with Helicobacter pylori infections. It helps in the short-term treatment of gastrointestinal symptoms caused by the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and in the treatment and prevention of associated gastric and duodenal ulcers. It is also indicated for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and used as maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding in patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers at risk of bleeding. This medication has a wide range of applications in the treatment of various gastrointestinal disorders.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to certain components or benzimidazole derivatives, or who have experienced such reactions in the past. It should also be avoided in patients taking certain antibiotics or some heart-related medications, nursing mothers, and patients with a history of myocardial infarction. This medication contains the dye Yellow No. 5, so patients who are allergic or hypersensitive to this component should use it cautiously. Long-term use may also lead to hypomagnesemia, necessitating magnesium level checks and possible supplementation if needed. This medication may interact with other medications, so if other medications are being taken, it is important to inform the physician or pharmacist, and it should be avoided with certain medications. Safety during pregnancy has not been fully established, so it should be used with caution, and it is advisable not to use it during nursing. Hives, angioedema, anaphylactic reactions/shock, jaundice, hepatitis, liver failure, Stevens-Johnson syndrome (skin and mucosal hypersensitivity syndrome), toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome), acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, severe allergic reactions, severe skin reactions, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, cough + fever

Mild side effects

Headache, dizziness, sensory disturbances, drowsiness, taste disturbance, blurred vision, bronchospasm, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal bloating, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, stomatitis, gastrointestinal candidiasis, elevated liver enzymes, hepatitis, liver failure, dermatitis, itching, rash, hair loss, photosensitivity, erythema multiforme, fractures, arthralgia, myalgia, muscle weakness, interstitial nephritis, gynecomastia, asthenia, increased sweating, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, abdominal distension
