This medication is used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It is particularly effective in reducing the incidence of spinal fractures. However, please note that the efficacy for non-vertebral fractures has not been firmly established. Overall, it helps improve spinal health and reduce fracture risk.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet once daily regardless of meals.

Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of blood clots. It is not recommended for women with conditions such as deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism. This medicine should only be used in postmenopausal women and must not be used by premenopausal women, pregnant women, or nursing mothers. If unexpected uterine bleeding occurs during treatment, you must seek medical attention immediately. The safety of this medication has not been established in breast cancer patients, so it is advisable not to use it for prevention or treatment purposes. Do not take this medication if you have hypersensitivity, a history of thrombosis, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have unexplained uterine bleeding, or symptoms of endometrial cancer, or if you suffer from kidney stones or hypercalcemia. Patients with high triglycerides, renal or liver dysfunction, or those with limited mobility should take this medication with caution and consult a physician if necessary. This medication may cause side effects like drowsiness or vision disturbances, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. If calcium intake is insufficient, calcium supplements should be taken along with this medication, and patients at high risk of vitamin D deficiency may require additional vitamin D supplementation. In case of overdose, symptoms like hypercalcemia, nausea, vomiting, muscle pain may occur, so care should be taken, and if abnormal symptoms arise, seek medical advice immediately.
