This medication helps lower blood cholesterol and triglycerides in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, and increases good cholesterol, HDL. It can be used in combination with or as an alternative treatment for patients with familial hypercholesterolemia. Dietary control should also be implemented during treatment, and secondary causes such as diabetes or thyroid issues should be confirmed. Blood lipid levels need to be monitored closely, and further tests may be necessary to accurately ascertain the condition.
