Efficacy & effects

Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes

  • Difficulty in blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes
View approved original text

This medication aids in controlling blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes and is used as an adjunct to dietary and exercise therapy. It may be used alone, but is often combined with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin or sulfonylureas, depending on the patient's condition. For example, it may be used together with metformin when previous treatment with diabetes medications has not been experienced or when sufficient blood sugar improvement is not achievable with monotherapy. Additionally, if blood sugar control is inadequate with metformin or sulfonylureas alone, this medication may be added to improve blood sugar regulation. If blood sugar control is still insufficient during insulin therapy, this medication can be added to enhance efficacy. In this way, it is utilized to improve blood sugar control for type 2 diabetes in conjunction with various treatment methods.
