Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (such as erosive reflux esophagitis), treatment and prevention of recurrence of Helicobacter pylori-positive peptic ulcers, alleviation of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and prevention of gastric ulcers.
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, especially for the treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis and for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent the recurrence of esophagitis. It also helps alleviate symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is effective in the treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers in conjunction with antibiotic regimens for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori. It is also used for the treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal symptoms and gastric ulcers associated with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. This medication is used in the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, as well as for maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers. Thus, it is effectively used for the treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal-related diseases.
This medication should be swallowed with liquids such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks - Maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence of esophagitis: 20 mg once daily - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily - If needed, 20 mg once daily.
Adolescents over 12 years - Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis:
This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, patients who are allergic to this medication or its components, those who have experienced allergic reactions in the past, patients who are hypersensitive to penicillin or macrolide antibiotics, patients taking specific heart-related medications, patients with a history of myocardial infarction, and breastfeeding women should not take this medication. Caution is required when taking this medication as various side effects can occur. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as headaches, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may commonly occur, and rarely, serious symptoms such as blood disorders, neurological disorders, skin rashes, and myalgia have been reported. If there is severe myalgia or weakness, a serious condition known as rhabdomyolysis may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought. Long-term use of this medication requires regular examinations, and if symptoms such as weight loss, repeated vomiting, difficulty swallowing, or blood in the stool occur, you should consult a doctor to rule out the possibility of malignancy. This medication reduces stomach acid, which may increase bacterial growth in the gastrointestinal tract, so if diarrhea persists, consideration should be given to the possibility of Clostridium difficile infection. Additionally, patients with osteoporosis or at high risk of fractures may experience an increased risk of fractures with long-term use of this medication, thus appropriate management such as bone density tests is necessary. This medication may interact with other drugs, so patients taking blood thinners, anticonvulsants, some antibiotics, or antivirals should inform their physician or pharmacist and closely observe any changes in their condition while taking the medication. Caution is advised when using this medication during pregnancy, and breastfeeding women should avoid taking this medication. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and symptomatic treatment should be provided, and it should be stored in a safe place out of the reach of children.
Urticaria, angioedema, anaphylactic reactions/shock, hypomagnesemia, hepatitis, jaundice, liver failure, encephalopathy, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell syndrome), acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), muscle weakness, interstitial nephritis, rhabdomyolysis, severe allergic reactions, severe skin reactions, respiratory problems.
Headache, dizziness, sensory disturbances, drowsiness, taste disorders, blurred vision, bronchospasm, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal distension, nausea/vomiting, dry mouth, stomatitis, gastrointestinal candidiasis, increased liver enzymes, dermatitis, itching, rash, hair loss, photosensitivity, fractures, joint pain, myalgia, gynecomastia, weakness, increased sweating, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, allergic reactions, facial swelling, facial flushing, fatigue, fever, generalized edema.

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air and moisture. It is important to maintain storage temperatures between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature to ensure the effectiveness and safety of the medication.
