This medication is used to eliminate bubbles or gas in the intestines during gastroscopy or abdominal X-ray examinations. It also helps alleviate symptoms such as abdominal bloating or aerophagia caused by gas in the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, it reduces discomfort due to gastrointestinal gas issues, making examinations or daily life more comfortable.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

1. Removal of intestinal bubbles during gastroscopy Administer 40-80 mg of simethicone orally with approximately 10 mL of water 15-40 minutes before the examination. 2. Removal of intestinal gas during abdominal X-ray From 3-4 days before the examination, administer 40-80 mg 3 times a day after meals or between meals. 3. Improvement of abdominal symptoms caused by gastrointestinal gas Administer 40-80 mg 3 times a day after meals or at bedtime. Adjust appropriately based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame. Aspartame breaks down into phenylalanine in the body, so individuals with phenylketonuria, a genetic disorder that requires restriction of phenylalanine intake, should not take this medication. The acceptable daily intake of aspartame is limited to less than 40 mg per kg of body weight, according to WHO recommendations. For example, for a 60 kg adult, it is safe to take a maximum of 2.4 g per day. This medication contains sodium metabisulfite, which can cause allergic reactions. Asthma patients are particularly sensitive to sulfites, and serious allergic reactions such as asthma attacks or anaphylaxis can occur, so caution is necessary. Occasionally, gastrointestinal adverse reactions such as diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, abdominal pain, vomiting, and loss of appetite may occur, and rarely, headaches may appear. Before use, it should be shaken well and stored out of the reach of children. It is also advisable to keep it in a cool place away from direct sunlight and low humidity.
