This medicine is used for the treatment of essential hypertension ranging from mild to moderate.

How to take

Adult dose

As Lercanidipine Hydrochloride, administer 5 to 10 mg orally once a day at least 15 minutes before a meal. The dosage may be increased to 20 mg depending on the patient's symptoms. Dosage adjustments take up to 2 weeks to respond clearly with maximum antihypertensive effect, so adjustments should be made gradually. For the elderly, dosage adjustment is not necessary, but caution is required at the start of treatment. For patients with mild to moderate liver and kidney impairment, special caution is needed at the beginning of treatment.

Precautions

This drug should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to those allergic to this drug or similar medications, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with heart problems, severe liver or kidney function impairment, and children and adolescents under the age of 18. Additionally, caution is advised when administering to patients with cardiac arrhythmias, mild kidney or liver function impairment, patients with a history of angina, those who consume alcohol frequently, and the elderly. When taking this medication, symptoms such as flushing of the face or swelling of the extremities may occur, and side effects such as headache, dizziness, fatigue, and indigestion may also be present.
