Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to help blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes who are following a dietary and exercise regimen. Linagliptin and metformin work together to effectively improve blood sugar levels. This helps maintain the health of those who have difficulty managing blood sugar levels. Therefore, it is used to enhance blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
The dosage of this medication should be determined based on the treatment regimen, effectiveness, and tolerance of the patient, without exceeding a maximum dose of 2.5 mg of linagliptin and 1000 mg of metformin taken twice daily. This medication should be administered twice daily with meals. 1. If not previously treated with metformin: The initial dose is 2.5/500 mg twice daily, 1 tablet at a time, with a maximum increase up to 2.5/1000 mg twice daily, 1 tablet at a time.
This medication is used to control blood sugar. Before taking this medication, you should be aware that a serious side effect known as lactic acidosis can occur. The risk of lactic acidosis is higher when there is a sudden deterioration of kidney function or if there are problems with heart or lung function. This medication should not be given to patients with certain conditions. For example, those with type 1 diabetes, severe kidney impairment, acute infections, or in shock, as well as patients with severely impaired heart or liver function, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication. Caution is needed when taking this medication alongside drugs that carry a risk of hypoglycemia, especially when used with insulin or sulfonylureas, as hypoglycemic symptoms may occur necessitating dosage adjustments under a doctor’s guidance. Patients with reduced kidney function should undergo regular renal function tests before and during the use of this medication, and it should not be taken if renal function is greatly impaired. Patients with poor cardiac function should also use this drug with caution, and it should be temporarily discontinued if iodine contrast agents are administered during radiological examinations. This medication should be interrupted for a certain period before and after surgery. During the use of this medication, skin conditions such as acute pancreatitis or bullous pemphigoid may arise, so if abdominal pain or skin blisters develop, immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication can lower vitamin B12 levels, so those on long-term treatment are advised to regularly check for vitamin B12 deficiency. This medication may interact with other drugs, so you must inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medications you are taking. Extra caution is needed when taken with drugs that may affect kidney function. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant are advised not to take this medication, and breastfeeding women should also avoid it. This medication is not recommended for children under 10 years or adolescents aged 10-17, as its safety and efficacy have not been established in these groups. Older adults commonly experience reduced kidney function and should start at the minimal dosage while regularly monitoring kidney function. In case of overdose, serious side effects such as lactic acidosis may occur, so do not exceed the prescribed dosage without consulting a doctor; immediate medical treatment should be sought if an overdose occurs. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored away from moisture.
