This medication is used to treat inflammation of the eye. It is effective for various ophthalmic inflammatory conditions such as blepharitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis, scleritis, and uveitis. It also helps relieve inflammation that may occur after surgery. These conditions are crucial for maintaining eye health and vision, and this medication assists in improving and treating inflammation.

How to apply drops

Adult eye dose

Instill 1-2 drops per administration 2-4 times a day. During the first 1-2 days, it may be used hourly as needed. Adjust dosage as appropriate based on symptoms. Discard any remaining solution and the container after use.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with viral keratitis, fungal eye infections, ocular tuberculosis, untreated purulent infections, and in those allergic to this medication. Caution is required in patients with corneal epithelial damage or ulcers due to the risk of corneal perforation. Care should be taken when prescribing to glaucoma patients or children due to the risk of side effects, especially as prolonged high-dose use in children may suppress adrenal function. Using this medication may cause an increase in eye pressure or abnormal reactions such as cataracts, eye infections, blurred vision, and pain; if symptoms occur, consult a doctor immediately. Using this on red eyes without a doctor's diagnosis may pose a risk of blindness, and if used for more than 10 days, regular checks of intraocular pressure and lens examination should be performed. If visual disturbances occur, evaluation for serious eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, or rare occurrences of central serous chorioretinopathy should be considered. Patients with a history of herpes simplex should undergo frequent check-ups to prevent exacerbation of corneal diseases, and the use of this medication during acute purulent infections may worsen the infection. Contact lens wearers should remove lenses before instillation and wait at least 15 minutes post-instillation before reinserting. If inflammation or pain persists or worsens for more than 48 hours, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Temporary blurring of vision may occur upon instillation, so avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until vision returns to normal. Particular caution is necessary to avoid complications if infected with chickenpox or measles during treatment; check vaccination history and take precautions against infections. Prolonged use may delay wound healing and carries risks of pituitary or adrenal suppression, warranting caution. Additionally, the risk of secondary eye infections may increase due to immunosuppression, so long-term use should be avoided. Interactions with other medications include increases in eye pressure if used with medications like atropine and heightened risk of systemic side effects when combined with certain enzyme inhibitors. During pregnancy, safety has not been established; it should only be used cautiously when absolutely necessary. During breastfeeding, consideration of the potential transfer of the drug into breast milk and serious side effects may necessitate the discontinuation of nursing or the medication. Special care is required for children and the elderly as physical functions differ. In case of overdose, serious problems are unlikely, but if a large amount is used accidentally, drinking water to dilute may help. This medication is for topical use only; avoid contact of the container tip with the eyes or other surfaces. To prevent infections, it is advisable not to share with others. When storing, keep in a tightly sealed container away from children and in a cool place, avoiding direct sunlight, and do not transfer to another container.
