This medication is effective for the treatment of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers, and is also used for erosive and ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease. It helps alleviate the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease and aids in long-term management. For patients with gastrointestinal ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection, it enhances treatment efficacy in combination with antibiotics. It is also helpful for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, which occurs infrequently. Thus, it is widely used for the treatment of various gastrointestinal disorders and symptom improvement.

How to take

Adult dose

Gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers: Administer 10 mg orally once a day; depending on symptoms, an oral dose of 20 mg once a day may be used. Typically, gastric ulcers are treated for up to 8 weeks, and duodenal ulcers for up to 6 weeks. Erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: Administer 10 mg or 20 mg orally once a day for 4 to 8 weeks. Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients with allergies or hypersensitivity reactions to certain components. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication. Patients with impaired liver function or elderly individuals should use this medication cautiously, and patients with a history of drug allergies should also exercise caution. If allergic symptoms such as rash or itchiness occur during treatment, discontinue use immediately. Regular blood tests and liver function tests should be conducted, and if any abnormal findings are detected, discontinue the medication and seek appropriate measures. Symptoms such as heart disease, hypertension, headaches, and dizziness may occur, so consult healthcare professionals if any unusual symptoms arise. This medication may affect the gastrointestinal tract, potentially leading to diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite. Neurological symptoms such as headaches, insomnia, anxiety, drowsiness, and tremors may also occur; caution is advised. Respiratory symptoms such as cough, pharyngitis, and asthma may develop, and in rare cases, severe respiratory issues such as pneumonia may occur, so report any symptoms immediately to medical personnel. Muscle pain, joint pain, skin rash, and hair loss have also been reported as skin and musculoskeletal adverse reactions. This medication may increase the risk of bone fractures, so attention to bone health is essential during long-term use. Long-term use may lower blood magnesium levels, thus magnesium supplementation and regular checks may be necessary. This medication suppresses gastric acid secretion, slightly increasing the risk of bacterial infections in the stomach; consult healthcare professionals if diarrhea persists. Caution is needed when driving or operating machinery, as drowsiness may occur. There may be interactions with other medications, especially when taken alongside antibiotics, anticoagulants, and antiviral agents, so consult a doctor or pharmacist if this applies. Do not chew or crush this medication; swallow the tablet whole.
