Treatment of essential hypertension and hypercholesterolemia (reduction of atherosclerosis risk)
This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty controlling blood pressure using a combination of telmisartan and amlodipine, and in cases where rosuvastatin needs to be used concurrently. The telmisartan/amlodipine combination is effective in treating hypertension in patients who do not respond well to monotherapy. Rosuvastatin is used as an adjunct in patients with hypercholesterolemia or combined dyslipidemia when diet and exercise are insufficient. It also helps delay the progression of atherosclerosis in patients with familial hypercholesterolemia and dysbetalipoproteinemia. Furthermore, it is used to reduce the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and risks related to arterial revascularization in patients at high cardiovascular risk. Therefore, this medication is used to improve cardiovascular health by managing both blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
This medication should be taken once daily with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). The dosage of the telmisartan/amlodipine combination and rosuvastatin should be adjusted individually based on patient response and tolerability. Instructions for taking telmisartan/amlodipine combination: - 40/5 mg: Given to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine 5 mg or telmisartan 40 mg.
