This medication is used for the treatment of male pattern baldness, also known as androgenetic alopecia. Male pattern baldness is a type of hair loss primarily caused by male hormones, and this medication helps to inhibit the progression of hair loss and promote hair growth. With consistent use, it can improve hair loss and restore hair health.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

After completely drying the hair and scalp, apply 0.5-1 mL of this medication twice a day (morning and evening) to the affected area only for at least 4 months. Total daily dosage should not exceed 2 mL.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by women or children under the age of 18. People who have allergies to this medication or its ingredients, or those with heart-related conditions, should also avoid use. It is recommended not to use this medication for patients with hair loss that is not genetically related, those with sudden partial hair loss, or those with scalp issues such as inflammation or infection. Do not use this medication if you are using other scalp medications or if you have shaved your scalp. It is safest not to use this medication along with topical corticosteroids or specific vasodilators. Elderly patients, individuals with edema, or those with thyroid function problems should consult a professional before use. If any abnormal symptoms such as skin itching, redness, headache, dizziness, heart, or respiratory issues occur while using this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. Exceeding the recommended dosage may affect the heart or blood pressure, so it is essential to follow the prescribed usage. Do not apply to areas other than the scalp and take care to avoid contact with the eyes or open wounds. After application, wash hands thoroughly, and it is advisable to use hairstyling products only after this medication has completely dried. This medication is flammable, so do not keep it near flames, and store it out of reach of children. Additionally, do not transfer this medication from its original container to another container, and always keep the lid tightly closed.

Serious side effects

  • Hives, severe swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness
  • High fever, severe rash, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/eye mucosa
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever
  • Jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), general malaise
  • Sudden and severe headaches, lightning headache, seizures, confusion of consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis
  • Significant decrease in urine output, severe systemic reactions.

Mild side effects

  • Itching, scaling, erythema/redness, dermatitis, dry skin, hypertrichosis, folliculitis, burning sensation, rash, peeling, hair loss, skin abscess, acne, nail changes, seborrhea, eczema, hair abnormalities
  • Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting
  • Chest pain, blood pressure changes, pulse changes, palpitations, increased heart rate, pericardial effusion, pericarditis, cyanosis, tachycardia, exacerbation of angina
  • Bronchitis, upper respiratory infections, sinusitis, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing
  • Fractures, abdominal pain, tendonitis, pain

Interactions

Drug interactions

Do not use this medication in conjunction with other topical scalp medications. Do not combine with transdermal absorption enhancers (e.g., topical corticosteroids, retinoids, petrolatum, dithranol). Avoid use with vasodilators (e.g., guanethidine, etc.).

Storage

This medication is sensitive to light and should be stored in a light-blocking container, at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius.
