Combination replacement therapy effect of Rosuvastatin Calcium and Metformin Hydrochloride
This drug is used as a combination replacement therapy for patients who need to take Rosuvastatin Calcium and Metformin Hydrochloride together.
This drug is administered once daily with the evening meal in adults.
This drug can cause a rare but serious condition known as lactic acidosis, with reports of fatalities associated with it. Caution is advised when taken with insulin or sulfonylureas used in diabetes treatment, as severe hypoglycemia may occur. Patients who have had allergic reactions to the components of this drug or similar drugs should not take it. Patients with impaired liver function or active liver disease should avoid using this drug as it increases the risk of lactic acidosis. It is also advisable that patients with muscle disorders or those at high risk of muscle damage, as well as patients taking certain immunosuppressants do not use this drug. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as fertile women who do not use appropriate contraception should not take this drug as it could pose risks to the fetus or baby. Patients with moderately impaired kidney function, dehydration, serious infections, or cardiovascular issues should exercise caution as the use of this drug may further worsen kidney function. Patients with acute heart failure or acute myocardial infarction, as well as those scheduled for tests using radioactive iodine contrast agents should temporarily discontinue this drug. This drug is not to be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or history of lactic acidosis or diabetic ketoacidosis. Patients with severe infections or trauma, as well as those undergoing surgery, should temporarily discontinue this drug and resume only once they are stable. Patients who are malnourished or frail, those with pituitary or adrenal dysfunction, and excessive alcohol consumers should also exercise caution when using this drug. Patients with irregular eating habits, intense exercise, or taking other interacting medications should be carefully monitored for risks of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis. If symptoms of myalgia or myopathy occur, the patient should immediately inform their doctor and undergo necessary testing, and may need to discontinue the medication in severe cases. This drug requires regular liver function and kidney function tests, especially for elderly patients or those with compromised kidney function. Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, so it is advisable to avoid alcohol during treatment. While taking this drug, there may be rare side effects such as skin rash, itching, headache, dizziness, indigestion, nausea, diarrhea, and fatigue. In severe cases, liver damage, muscle damage, and severe skin reactions may occur, and any unusual symptoms should be reported to a healthcare professional immediately. This drug is contraindicated for use during pregnancy, and women planning to become pregnant must use appropriate contraception. Breastfeeding women are also advised to avoid taking this medication, and if necessary, should consult a physician. This drug is not recommended for children or adolescents under 19 years of age as safety and efficacy have not been established. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so immediate medical attention is required for appropriate treatment. Caution is needed as dizziness may occur when driving or operating machinery.
