Typically, 5/50 milligrams of this medication are given once daily; if blood pressure is not adequately controlled after two weeks, the dosage may be increased to 10/50 milligrams once daily.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. It may also affect the fetus in early pregnancy, so women who could become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking it. Caution is required for patients with low blood volume or those taking diuretics, as hypotension may occur. Patients with allergies to the components of this medication or those with severe liver or heart disease should not take it. Elderly patients or those with reduced kidney function should also consult a doctor before use. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur during treatment, so driving or operating dangerous machinery should be avoided. Since this medication lowers blood pressure, caution is needed when taken with other antihypertensives to prevent excessive hypotension. It is safest for pregnant or nursing women to avoid taking this medication. If allergy symptoms such as itching, rash, or difficulty breathing occur, inform a doctor immediately. Overdosage can lead to severe hypotension or heart issues, so the prescribed dosage must be strictly adhered to. Its safety and efficacy for children below 18 years of age have not been established, hence its use is not recommended. This medication may significantly enhance blood lowering effects when taken with grapefruit juice, so it is advisable to avoid concurrent consumption. Regular monitoring of kidney function and electrolyte status through blood pressure and blood tests is important.
